During your initial consultation and fitness assessment we work out where you are with your current diet, fitness and strength and then formulate an action plan together so that we can meet your goals. This may be weight loss, fat loss, inch loss, strength gain, increasing fitness for health and general wellbeing, improving posture, improving fitness to walk, run, cycle, swim a specific distance. These are just examples, the goal is yours and together we formulate the tools to help you focus on what you need to do to achieve it.
We talk about the type of exercise you enjoy or think you might like and of course the exercise you detest. We look at the body and mind as a whole, working to achieve a strong core and using functional movements – sitting, standing, squatting, lunging, lifting, carrying, dragging, twisting, bending, getting up, getting down, pushing, pulling – mimicking everyday life activities alongside more traditional exercises.
I bring your attention to nutrition not calorie counting, dieting or starvation.
We look at lifestyle and stress too as this all has such an impact on health and fitness. Hard training definitely has it’s place but so does relaxation and rest.
We work on learning how to change one thing at a time so it easily becomes part of your everyday life, so that eating nutrient dense foods and drinking enough water (among other things) become second nature.
You will have an exercise programme that you complete at home using equipment you may have already or a selection of relatively inexpensive equipment such as dumbells and a stability ball for example. Your programme is regularly adjusted during our personal training sessions and then approximately every 8 weeks it is entirely updated to progress the exercises and of course to stop you getting bored or plateauing.
Scary as it sounds I do have expectations from you when you embark on your journey. I expect commitment, adherence and you putting in the time in between our sessions.
Initial Personal Training Consultation £60 – During this hour and a half we discuss current health, injuries, goals, diet. We discuss your expectations and my expectations. There are a few questionnaires (health and nutrition) to complete and a brief fitness assessment. You receive feedback from your questionnaires and your fitness assessment showing areas that need addressing and your areas of strength. The information from this initial consultation is used to formulate a goal driven fitness, lifestyle and nutrition plan specifically for you.
